Well I've arrived in Melbourne. I was expecting the sky to be on fire instead it's bloody cloudy and even trying to rain. I'm starting to think the shit weather is following me around.

everything is fine apart from that. done nothing today but hang around waiting to go to the airport and then more hanging around waiting to get on the plane. nothing of interest happened on the plane either. all very dull indeed.

not really had enough time to do anything but nip to the supermarket since i got here. the hostel seems to be a bit of a rowdy one but i'm to tired to go out tonight.

Kate - if there is anything Irmeet thinks I HAVE to do while i'm in Melbourne, let me know.

  1. Hello Paulius Maximus,

I'm really sorry I didn't blog you earlier. Things to do in Melbourne.

    1. Walk around the botanical Gardens in Melbourne. very pretty
    2. Explore City Centre. Especially the Central Business District (quite small and manageable)
    3. I can't remeber the name of the tallest building in Melbourne but you can rise the lift to the top and there are good views from the bar.
    4. Walk around the High Street of St Kilda
    5. Have a coffee in one of many trendy chic cafe bars around South Yarra (posh district)

    In terms of excursions:
An ABSOLUTE MUST: Great Ocean Road day excursion . Absolutely beautiful coastal road with a rock formation called the 12 apostles. A bit tough to fit it in 1 day but I did and you will find 1 day packages relatively easily. It was absolutely worth it. I have pictures on my facebook photo album of the 12 apostles if you're interested

I recommend 1 day for the City and 1 for the Great ocean road.

If you decide against the ocean road then perhaps consider day drips to the Yarra Valley for wine tasting. However you will probably get the chance to do this near Sydney on your big bus trip. There's always the Ramsay Street tour which leaves outside the Cathedral (If you're a saddo like myself)

I hope this helps. Sorry for the delay

    Moom

  2. Paul I can't believe Irmeet telling you to go look for the highest building in Melbourne. Dosn't he know you havn't tried base jumping yet. The wet weather does seem to be following you around but you are going in the right direction for it to get better (I think you are). You must have some great photos for us to look at when you get back, Milford Sound looked fabulous. Not much happening here, went out for dinner with your mum and dad on friday, ate and drank too much. Had a day in Yorkshire on Saturday, Jack was doing a reyki course (some weird healing thing not to sure what) so I went along for the ride. Spent Sunday at home Jack was buzy working on the extension so he was up in the roof all day, best place for him. As you can see all very boring here. Well I hope you enjoy Australia and I hope the sun comes out, keep us posted love auntie sue xx
