my oz bus experience

I met up with the oz bus on saturday morning at 6am. i had to get up at 4:30 which was an absolute nightmare but apart from that all was good. the place we were supposed to go during the day is currently on fire so we went straight to the place we were staying that night (lakes entrance it was called) and went to a local winery, which was great. in the evening we had fish and chips and then built a bonfire on the beach which we sat round it getting to know the group. it's a smaller bus than the kiwi experience ones so it is a bit easier to get to know people.

the next day we drove through the alpine and mount kosciuszko national parks, where i saw my first real in the wild Kangaroos and wallebys. as well as quite a lot of dead ones at the road side. they are massive and hitting one must be like driving into a wall. we were staying the night in a place called Threadbo which is under Mount Kosciusko which is Australias highest point and is in the winter the countrys main skiing place, although there's no snow at the moment. we walked up to the top of the mountain, and by walk i of course mean took a chair lift up to near the top and then walked a bit. i dont know quite what i was expecting of this oz trip but skiing resorts wasn't really part of it, but it was very beautiful up there.

Most of yesterday was spent driving into sydney, although we did stop in Canberra for a couple of hours and went and stood on the top of the Parliment building. last night we went out to a place that did $10 steaks and then went out drinking for the night, on what was supposedly the last night with the group. although in fact quite a few of us are staying in the same place and we are meeting up with most of the rest to go to the Harbour bridge and the Opera house this afternoon.

I've pretty much planned out my itenery for the whole of australia. all that is confirmed is that i'm going to be in sydney till Saturday as that is the first time I can get on a bus. I'll post the vague itenery as soon as it's sorted (i'd be interested in your opinion Irmeet).
